What is worship? Worship is
what God tells us is the purpose of our lives. Isaiah 43:7 tells
us this "Everyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created FOR
MY GLORY...." God created us to give him glory. So, we are
made to worship God but how can we do that. The answer: Though
everything we do! Our entire lives should be based upon the fact
that as a christian every step we take and every move we make is to
bring God glory!
That might bring up a new question for you. Why do we need to go
to church if we can worship God all of the time? Well there are a
few answers. The broad answer is this: There are irreplaceable
parts of being a Christian that can not be used outside of the church.
1. Use of spiritual gifts- 1
Corinthians 12 makes it very clear that God has given spiritual gifts
to every Christian. And verse 7 states that these abilities are
not provided to make you feel good but that they are abilities that
should be used to minister to others.
2. Mutual Ministry- The Church is
pictured as a body is 1 Corinthinas 12, and Paul exaplains that each
part of the body exists to meet the needs of other body parts. In
the same way God intends for us to meet the needs of other believers,
using our strength to help in there area of weekness.
3. Accountability- God designed the
church as a place where spiritual leaders could watch out for the
peoples welfare, just as a shephard gaurds the sheep (1 Peter
5:1-4, Hebrews 13:17). A christians who answers only to himself
can easily rationalize sinful attitudes or actions; regular contact
with other Christians can keep us sharp.
4. Knowledge- Very simply the
church is where you can learn. If you base everything off of your
own understanding it is very easy to misunderstand scripture.
When you come to church you are offered teaching from people who have
been given the gift to teach you!
One verse could easily sum up all of the reasons to come to
church. Hebrews 10:25 warns us against "forsaking our own
assembling together, as is the habit of some".
With that being said, The Contemporary Worship Service is at 11:00
Sunday mornings in the worship center. The service consists of a
time of praise and worship, teaching, baptism and of course a time of
annoucements. Our goal is to bring you the word of God in a
challenging and refreshing way and to give you a place you can praise
God with fellow believers.
